Day Five-Finally at the Air and Space Museum

This day started with classes and a book study, The End of Average by Todd Rose. We then had time to visit the tents that were giving away a ton of free posters, stickers, and teachers love free stuff! I also met many special people who are involved in future missions. Unfortunately, the Air and Space Museum is under construction for the next several years as they update the exhibits. Fortunately, they want feedback from teachers so I was part of a focus group that went through recent exhibits (within the last 10 years) and old exhibits (40 years old) and gave constructive feedback of changes they need to make to better relate to middle school students! I was flattered and they really listened! And the day ended with the Apollo 11 projected re-inactment on the Washington Monument!!! Here is a link to the video--- https://youtu.be/3lZuJ0VsqUY

Pictures:

1. In the Air and Space Museum in front of a LEM (the practice one--the other one is not here---:))

2. Tents for the event--where all the free stuff was---and it was 100 degrees

3. Caroline Pace (she is working on the lander pictured that will be launched in 2021) and Newton Campbell (works at Goddard in the AI department)

4. Radiation suit--this is a prototype they are working on for longer space missions. The female to my right is Julie Hanson and is working on this project.

5. Our conference room where we gave our focus group feedback within the offices of Air and Space.

6. Watch the video above!!

My view from my VIP seats! Big crowd for shows at 9:30,10:30, and 11:30
